Children &Youth Programs and Services:

The objective of the program is to provide a safe social and learning environment to foster positive behavior. Participants will engage in activities such as the fine arts with a focus on the Drama, which includes role-playing, and a strong emphasis on what we refer to as Designed Choices, located in our programming outline.

Target areas will include building self esteem through role-models, mentors and motivation, using motivational speakers, affluent members of the community, and peers making positive choices. Strong emphasis will also be placed on academics through the after school and homework program, designed to provide tutoring support.

Participants will also be introduced to our resource center that is also designed to assist youths in recognizing their strengths, ability, talents, and preferences. Presenting information regarding necessary requirements, for career fields also accessing various apprentice programs.
VIP Community Services programs are designed to: bring children, youth, service providers, community leaders, police and family members together; children and youth take ownership and responsibility and be accountable for their actions; improve the cultural awareness of children and youth. VIP Community Services staff provides Informal counseling, advocacy, information, and referrals for youth and their families.

 

Parenting Program:

VIP Community Services staff will facilitate an evidence-based, 10 week Parenting program for parents/caregivers of children birth to 18 years. The program will focus on child development, developing age appropriate expectations and intervention, encouraging positive child development through praise and setting appropriate limits.

Children’s groups will run in conjunction with the parenting program and are offered to children birth to 18 years. Children work on themes such as sharing, listening, and problem solving and finding appropriate and safe ways to express and manage anger.

 

Newcomer Program for youth and their families:

< Programs focus on encouraging integration of the various components of the community while respecting and preserving individual and cultural identities and helping newcomers become part of the community by encouraging them to develop their skills through participation as volunteers and/or staff.

We provide individual assistance, workshops about Canadian school system and how to work effectively with principal and teachers and referrals.
